Tolu Arokodare Discusses AFCON Snub and Future Aspirations

Tolu Arokodare, a 23-year-old striker, opened up about the "painful" experience of being omitted from Nigeria's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco. He acknowledged that his limited playing time at Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., where he moved last summer, left little room for complaint regarding his exclusion.

Arokodare watched as the Super Eagles clinched bronze by defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the third-place playoff. He reflected on his performance during the World Cup qualifying playoff against DR Congo, which he considered a turning point.

Despite the disappointment, Arokodare recognized the fierce competition in Nigeria's attacking lineup, particularly with established players like Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu leading the line. As the next international window approaches in March, Arokodare hopes to regain form and earn more minutes to potentially return to the Super Eagles.
