ADC to Proceed with Congresses Despite INEC's Warning

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its intention to continue with its planned congresses and convention, disregarding a notice from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that advised against such activities. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesperson, stated that the ADC would adhere to due process and proceed with the congresses, which are set to occur within 21 days of INEC's notice.

Abdullahi expressed concerns regarding INEC's actions and their broader implications for the political process, especially in light of the upcoming presidential elections in 2027. He criticized the perception that INEC's warning was merely a conspiracy theory, particularly in relation to a proposed voter revalidation exercise that INEC warned could create unnecessary challenges for voters.

The ADC's decision comes after INEC's earlier declaration that it no longer recognizes any factions within the party, following a court appeal judgment that affected the group's internal dynamics.
