Ajip Demands Fresh Primary After Ondo APC Election Controversy

Alex Ajip, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the results of the Ondo North senatorial primary held on Tuesday night. The primary was chaired by Iboroma Harri Dabib, and the results indicated that Gbenga Elegbeley won with 28,062 votes, while incumbent senator Olajid Ipinsagba received 9,819 votes.

Ajip garnered 17,313 votes, Adeogun Adejoro received 3,845 votes, Tunji Muham secured 1,076 votes, and Michael Adeyanju recorded 640 votes. Ajip alleged that the electoral process was compromised, claiming that results were manipulated and that voting did not occur in four local government areas.

He accused the process of being an "assault on democracy" and called for an appeal to the APC's national leadership for an investigation and a rerun of the primary election. This protest follows reports of political thuggery disrupting the announcement of results at the APC secretariat in Akure.
