Agboola Ajayi Joins APC Race for Ondo South Senate Seat

Agboola Ajayi, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, has announced his candidacy for the Ondo South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking to Punch Online in Akure on Wednesday, Ajayi cautioned against any attempts to impose candidates prior to the party's primaries, emphasizing that such actions would not be accepted.

He highlighted the importance of consensus within the party, warning that if consensus fails, the party should proceed with primary elections. Ajayi, who has previously served in various political roles, including as a member of the House of Representatives and Deputy Governor under late Rotimi Akeredolu, noted that his motivation for running is driven by a desire to serve and bring development to the people.

He has a history of political realignment, having defected from the APC to the Zenith Labour Party and later to the PDP, before rejoining the APC ahead of the upcoming elections.
