APC Group Raises Alarm Over Voter Apathy in Ondo

A faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised alarms regarding a drastic decline in voter turnout during the Ondo South by-election held on a Saturday. The group noted that Prof.

Dayo Faduyile emerged victorious with 68,474 votes across six local government areas in the senatorial district. The APC's total votes amounted to 126,196, a concerning figure when compared to previous elections.

The statement, issued by the APC's Director of Media, Ojo Oyewamid, emphasized the need for introspection and grassroots mobilization as the 2027 general elections approach. The APC's performance was deemed unimpressive, especially in light of the upcoming governorship elections, where they secured votes distributed as follows: Okitipupa (26,811), Irele (17,127), Ilaje (24,414), Ese Odo (26,683), Odigbo (16,600), and Il Oluji/Oke Igbo.

The group also acknowledged the support of notable PDP leaders, including Hon. Agboola Ajayi, who joined the APC, suggesting that such political shifts could enhance electoral strength.

The APC aims to reconcile and engage all stakeholders to avoid internal divisions as they prepare for future elections.
