APC's Prof. Dayo Faduyile Wins Ondo South Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Prof. Dayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ondo South senatorial district bye-election held on a Saturday.

Faduyile, a former president of the Nigerian Medical Association and current special adviser on health matters to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, garnered 68,474 votes. He defeated Adeolu Akinwunmi of the People's Movement (APM), who received 1,411 votes, while Adesanya Olaoluwa of the Action People's Party (APP) and Clement Funso Nejo of the Boot Party (BP) received 213 and 70 votes, respectively.

The total votes cast in the election were 70,770, with 602 rejected votes. The election filled the vacant seat left by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who was appointed as Nigeria's permanent representative to the United Nations.

INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agbok, noted minor issues during the election but stated that they would help prepare better for future elections.
