Ondo Bishop Critiques Government on Rising Insecurity

Jude Arogundade, the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, expressed grave concerns regarding the escalating insecurity and kidnappings in Ondo State. During a Palm Sunday mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Akure, he called on the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to implement effective strategies to combat the rising tide of crime.

Arogundade highlighted a recent incident where three individuals were abducted by hoodlums near a health center in the Ijebu area of Akure, emphasizing the need for immediate government action. He criticized the government's perceived lack of seriousness in addressing these issues, stating that bandits are gradually infiltrating Akure, leaving citizens feeling helpless.

Arogundade urged the government to take responsibility for the safety of its citizens and called for collective prayer and vigilance among the populace. He lamented the tragic loss of 41 lives in the diocese due to violence, reinforcing the urgent need for a more proactive approach to security in Nigeria.
