Ondo Youths Demand Action Against Rising Insecurity

Youths in Ondo State, under the Akur Youth Coalition, have expressed their displeasure regarding the escalating insecurity in the region. In a statement issued on Monday, leaders Ogundip O Seyi and Adekanbi Oluwatuyi highlighted the recent spate of violence, including kidnappings and killings in Akure North and South Local Government Areas.

On Saturday, residents protested in Akure, blocking traffic at the popular Shoprite junction, demanding immediate government action to address the insecurity that has left families devastated and living in fear. The coalition condemned the attacks, particularly those allegedly perpetrated by armed Fulani herdsmen and kidnappers.

They acknowledged the state government's previous efforts to prioritize security but emphasized the need for urgent measures, including the establishment of functional security outposts, deployment of the Nigerian Police Force, Civil Defence Corps, and Amotekun Corps in vulnerable areas, and the use of modern surveillance technology like drones for real-time monitoring.
