Ondo Government Pays N12bn in Gratuity to Local Government Retirees, Promotes Transparency and Governance

The Ondo State Government announced the payment of over N12 billion in gratuities to local government retirees, covering the entitlements of retirees from 2010 to 2013. Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, commended the local government chairmen for promoting grassroots development and transparency in governance.

The payment aims to ease the suffering of retirees who served the state diligently but had pending gratuities. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa approved the release of funds to settle the backlog of gratuities.

The government highlighted the importance of consistent savings to meet financial obligations to retirees.
