Ondo NLC Demands N256,950 New Minimum Wage, Urges Prompt Action

The Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded a new minimum wage of N256,950 from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. In a letter dated September 19, 2025, the NLC highlighted the need for an increase due to the worsening economic conditions affecting workers and pensioners.

The NLC emphasized that inflation, subsidy removal, and rising costs have eroded the purchasing power of workers and retirees. The union commended the state governor for prompt salary and pension payments but urged immediate negotiations to address the new wage demand, citing the need for worker welfare to reflect the economic reality.

The NLC aims for Ondo State to set a progressive standard for worker welfare across the country.
