Ondo Police and FAAN Disagree on Arrest of Suspects

The Ondo State police command and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have disagreed over the classification of four suspects arrested at Akure Airport. FAAN's Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, confirmed the arrest, stating it was a collaborative effort involving multiple security agencies, including the Nigerian Army and police.

However, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, clarified that the suspects are not bandits but are connected to criminal activities, specifically logistics for kidnappers. Lawal emphasized that the arrests did not occur within the airport premises and that the operation aimed to flush out criminals across the state.

He noted that two of the suspects were arrested in Eleyowo and Ilu Abo, and the police will continue operations to ensure safety in Ondo State, targeting criminal elements in both urban and rural areas.
