Ondo Police Deny Bandit Arrests at Akure Airport

The Ondo State Police Command issued a statement on Tuesday refuting claims circulating in the media about the arrest of four bandits at Akure Airport. Jimoh Abayomi, the police public relations officer, clarified that there was no incident or security breach at the airport.

However, the command received credible intelligence regarding suspicious kidnapping activities around the Eleyewo Axis of Akure, prompting a swift operation that led to the arrest of two suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that these suspects were involved in logistics for kidnapping activities within the state, and they provided confessions that are aiding ongoing investigations to apprehend other members of the criminal network.

The police command urged the public to disregard the inaccurate reports suggesting bandit arrests at the airport, labeling them as false and misleading, which could cause unnecessary panic. They reassured residents of the security around critical infrastructure, including the airport, and encouraged citizens to continue law enforcement cooperation.
