Ondo Polytechnic Disowns Student After Suicide Incident

Rufu Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo State, issued a statement on Thursday clarifying that Audu Emmanuel, a 20-year-old identified as a computer engineering student who was found dead, is not a registered student of the institution. The senior assistant registrar for public relations, Olumid Olugosi, stated that while there was a previous offer of admission to Emmanuel for the 2024/2025 academic session, he did not complete the program or sit for any examinations.

The institution expressed sympathy for the death of Emmanuel but stressed that the reports identifying him as a student were inaccurate and misleading. The statement urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding Emmanuel's status, highlighting the discrepancies surrounding his identification.
