Ondo State Tertiary Institutions Workers End Strike After Aid

Workers in tertiary institutions owned by the Ondo State Government will resume their duties on September 29 following the suspension of an indefinite strike by the Joint Action Committee of Ondo State-owned Tertiary Institutions (JAC-ODSTI). The strike, which began on September 2, was due to unresolved issues regarding the implementation of agreements between the Federal Government and the unions.
The institutions affected included Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko; Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; and the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo. The suspension was facilitated by a financial intervention from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
JAC-ODSTI, which includes the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), directed all affected workers to return to work. The unions commended the governor and other officials for their roles in resolving the dispute but warned that unresolved non-financial issues could lead to future disputes.
