One Killed, Others Abducted In Sokoto Mosque Attack

One person was killed and several others were abducted in an attack on a mosque in Marnona village, Sokoto State. The incident, believed to be carried out by armed bandits, occurred during morning prayers on Sunday.

The attackers, suspected to have come from a camp in the forest bordering the area known for harboring criminal gangs, fled when security operatives arrived. The Sokoto State Police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

The Sokoto APC chairman, Isah Achida, condemned the attack as barbaric and cowardly, urging residents to remain united against banditry. The state government is working with security agencies to address the security challenges in the region.
