Police Repel Robbery Attempt in Abuja, One Suspect Shot

In Abuja, the Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory successfully repelled a robbery attempt by armed suspects in the Kado area. One suspect sustained gunshot injuries during an exchange of gunfire and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The suspect managed to escape into a nearby bush. The police recovered several items at the scene, including a black Volkswagen Golf 2, weapons such as a Beretta pistol and a locally made pistol, mobile phones, ATM cards, and other personal belongings.

Josephin Adeh, the command's spokesperson, highlighted ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Miller Dantaway, the police commissioner, reassured residents of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property.

The incident occurred on January 23, 2026, following a distress call received by the Mabushi Division headquarters. The police have been actively combating crime in Abuja, with recent successes in operations against kidnapping and robbery syndicates.
