“Ongoing Show of Shame” — Atiku Faults Nigeria’s Empty Booth at TICAD 9 Conference in Japan

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized the Nigerian government for leaving its booth empty at the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Japan. Atiku described the incident as a "show of shame" and a reflection of poor governance.

The absence of an official presence at this critical international investment forum was seen as a missed opportunity for Nigeria. Many Nigerians, including Idris Bello of Wennovation Hub, expressed disappointment and embarrassment over the unmanned booth on the first day of the conference.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuted claims of abandonment, stating that the booth was scheduled for an official inauguration on the second day of the conference. This incident has raised concerns about the government's preparedness and commitment to attracting foreign partnerships for economic development.
