Oba Lawal Advocates Coastal Development Corporation in Lagos

On Thursday, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal Abisogun II called for the establishment of a Coastal Community Development Corporation dedicated to the welfare and environmental protection of coastal communities. Speaking at a lecture themed "Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway: Balancing National Development with Environmental Concerns and Socio-Economic Opportunities," organized by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners Lagos State Chapter in conjunction with the Association of Town Planning Consultants Nigeria, Lawal emphasized the need for strategic investment in infrastructure to support urbanization in Nigeria.

He noted that the World Bank's 2026 report on public infrastructure highlights the importance of urban infrastructure in driving economic growth. Lawal stressed that infrastructure development should not only focus on roads and bridges but also on connecting people and facilitating commerce.

He commended the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners for their initiatives and honored the late Dr. Femi Olomola, whose contributions were recognized during the event.
