Concern Over Low Transition Rate of Primary Pupils to Secondary School in Nigeria

Dr. Tunji Alausa, representing the Ministry of Education, expressed worry over the low transition rate from primary to secondary school in Nigeria, with only 6 million out of 30 million pupils progressing.

The Nigeria Education Forum (NEF) and Nigeria Governor Forum (NGF) are collaborating to address this issue through initiatives like digitizing schools, teacher training, and supporting students with scholarships. Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the need for a new national education compact involving private sector and community stakeholders.

The focus is on improving infrastructure and educational outcomes nationwide.
