Only God Knows Next Ogun Governor, Says Gbenga Daniel

During a burial service for his mother-in-law, Mama Opawol, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun State, remarked that only God knows who will succeed as the next governor of Ogun State, referencing Oladipupo Adebutu of the People's Democratic Party and Solomon Adeola of the Progressives Congress as potential candidates. The service, held at Ibara Baptist Church in Abeokuta, was attended by notable figures including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and current Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Daniel emphasized the need for a peaceful political atmosphere devoid of violence as the 2027 governorship race approaches. He called for unity among politicians, highlighting that despite their party affiliations, there should be no animosity.

Obasanjo paid tribute to the deceased, describing her as a woman of uncommon grace and faith, whose legacy continues to inspire many. Governor Abiodun also praised her accomplishments and virtuous life, noting her influence on her family.
