Political Chants Disrupt Burial Service in Abeokuta

During the burial service of Sabainah Opawol, mother of Yey Olufunk Daniel, in Abeokuta, supporters of Ladi Adebutu and Solomon Adeola exchanged political slogans. The service, held at Ibara Baptist Church, was attended by notable figures including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The atmosphere turned political when Adebutu invited attendees to pay tribute, leading to chants of "Sai Lado 2027 Ogun" in support of his governorship ambition. This prompted a counter-response from Adeola's supporters.

Former Governor Gbenga Daniel intervened, appealing for calm and urging attendees to respect the solemnity of the occasion, stating that it was inappropriate to engage in political campaigning during the service. Following his appeal, the service continued without further interruptions.
