OPay Selects 48 Teams for National Innovation Challenge

OPay, a leading fintech company in Nigeria, has unveiled the top 48 teams selected for the next stage of the OPay National Innovation Challenge. This initiative is part of the expanded OPay Scholars Programme, which includes a ₦1.2 billion scholarship initiative and OPay Futures.

The challenge attracted over 2,200 applications from more than 11,000 undergraduate students across Nigeria, with applications open from May 25 to July 3. The selected teams, comprising 24 from partner institutions and 24 from non-partner institutions, will undergo a six-week virtual learning and mentorship programme.

This programme includes webinars with industry experts from OPay, Google, and the Federal Government 3MTT programme, aimed at enhancing their innovation and entrepreneurship skills. At the end of the sessions, 10 teams will be chosen to progress further.

Additionally, students scoring 70% or higher in the assessments will qualify for a three-month internship with OPay and partner organizations, providing them with valuable industry experience.
