Opposition Leaders Address ADC Leadership Crisis in Abuja

Opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ADC National Chairman David Mark, gathered in Abuja at the Yar'Adua Centre to discuss the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This meeting was prompted by the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) decision on Wednesday to withdraw recognition from David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as members of the party's national working committee, pending the resolution of a leadership dispute in court.

INEC announced that it would not monitor the ADC's national convention scheduled for April 14 and would maintain the status quo until the matter is determined. Moham Haruna, the INEC National Commissioner, informed the voter education committee of this decision, rejecting a request from Nafiu Bala Gomb to assume control of the party.

Haruna further noted that the electoral body would not monitor political activities of the ADC faction.
