UTME 2026 Begins Smoothly with 2.2 Million Candidates

The 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) began on April 16, with an expected participation of 2.2 million candidates across 966 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide, running until April 22. A visit to the Rosa Mystica Academy CBT Centre in Bwari Area Council, FCT, revealed an orderly and smooth examination process during the morning session.

Peter Idu, an official, confirmed that 236 out of 250 scheduled candidates successfully passed biometric verification without technical issues. Adeosun Olawola, a test supervisor, noted that the examination commenced on time at 8:30 AM, with candidates advised to arrive by 6:30 AM.

Strict adherence to examination guidelines was observed, with no cases of misconduct reported. JAMB emphasized the importance of candidates printing their examination slips in advance to avoid confusion.

The board also announced that 23 CBT centres were delisted for failing to meet standards, and 11 technical officials were removed due to poor performance.
