Ortom Denies Interest in 2027 Senatorial Seat

Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has publicly refuted reports indicating his intention to contest for the Benue North West senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. This clarification comes amidst widespread speculation on social media, particularly on Friday.

Ortom, who previously held the senatorial seat from 2015 to 2023, lost to former aide Senator Titus Zam in the 2023 elections. Despite ongoing rumors about a potential candidacy for 2027, Ortom has consistently stated that he does not seek any elective office.

His media aide, Terver Akas, characterized the claims as fabrications and emphasized that Ortom remains focused on political engagement without the desire to pursue elective office in 2027. Ortom reaffirmed his commitment to supporting democratic ideals and providing statesmanlike guidance, while expressing concern over the circulation of untrue reports regarding his candidacy.
