Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Suspends VP Candidate

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University management has suspended Prof. Chike Osegbue, a leading candidate in the vice chancellorship selection process, for three months due to allegations of not teaching the assigned postgraduate course PSC 811.

The suspension, effective from January 1, 2026, prohibits Osegbue from entering the university campus unless invited. The suspension letter, dated January 7, 2026, was signed by the registrar, Chris U.

Obi, on behalf of the vice chancellor. The inquiry into Osegbue's conduct was initiated by Dr.

Agari Nwokoy, acting head of the Department of Political Science, on September 9, 2025. Following a query issued on December 3, 2025, it was confirmed that Osegbue did not teach PSC 811 during the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

The senior staff disciplinary committee has invited Osegbue for interaction regarding the allegations. Osegbue is currently contesting the appointment of Prof.

Kate Omenugha, claiming she does not meet the criteria for the position.
