Oshiomhole Critiques NSCDC's Civil Identity in Security Fight

During the launch of a book titled "Nigeria's Security Dilemma: Rivalry and Implications Vol. 1" authored by Dr. Olusola Odumosu in Abuja, Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, stated that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) cannot effectively combat armed criminals while maintaining a 'civil' identity.

He argued that the term 'civil' no longer reflects the realities faced by the agency, which routinely confronts heavily armed criminals. Oshiomhole called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, emphasizing the importance of intelligence sharing to tackle Nigeria's security challenges.

He criticized the lack of trust and coordination among agencies and urged lawmakers to prioritize national security above partisan interests. Oshiomhole stressed that no single agency can monopolize solutions to security issues and that a united front is essential for effective responses to threats.
