Super Falcons Beat Senegal 2-1 in WAFCON Warm-Up

The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory against Senegal in a warm-up match for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Friday at the Remo Star Sport Complex in Ikenne. Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring in the 32nd minute by converting a penalty after a handball was called in the Senegalese box.

Oshoala, wearing a wristband with a message advocating for the return of children to school, displayed her customary composure in front of goal. Toni Payne doubled Nigeria's lead just before halftime, finishing low past the Senegalese goalkeeper after being left unmarked following a corner taken by Shukurat Oladipo.

The match also marked the senior debut of goalkeeper Deni Erhabor. Senegal improved in the second half and managed to pull one back in the 86th minute through Sokhna Nogay's long-range strike.

This match served as Nigeria's first encounter with Senegal since a 3-0 victory in 2018, as they prepare to defend their title in the upcoming tournament starting July 26 in Morocco.
