Prof. Afolabi Soyode Celebrated at 85th Birthday Event

On Friday, dignitaries gathered in Abeokuta to celebrate Prof. Afolabi Soyode, the former Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, on his 85th birthday.

The event featured the unveiling of a book in his honor at the Abeokuta Club. Former Ogun State governors Olusegun Osoba and Ibikunle Amosun, along with Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, praised Soyode for his exemplary leadership and selfless service to the community.

Osoba described Soyode as a distinguished scholar and community leader whose contributions have positively impacted Egbaland and Ogun State. Amosun commended Soyode's integrity and dedication, noting that he has consistently excelled in all his assignments.

The celebration also included remarks about Soyode's rise from the University of Ibadan to becoming Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, where he was recognized as the best vice chancellor among state universities in 2007. The event underscored Soyode's lasting influence and commitment to building enduring institutions.
