FUOYE VC Praises ASUU's Peace Efforts Amid Birthday

Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), commended the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for its commitment to dialogue and peace in advocating for better welfare for its members. He acknowledged the Nigerian government's efforts, particularly by Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa, in maintaining uninterrupted academic activities in universities.

As he approaches his 59th birthday, Ogunwole plans to celebrate not only his birthday but also the peaceful academic climate and ongoing reforms at FUOYE. These reforms include transitioning to a college system with provosts and enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment and corruption among staff and students.

He also established a discreet body in his office for victims to report issues. Furthermore, Ogunwole encouraged ASUU to reconcile with the Congress of Nigeria University Academics (CONUA), which separated from ASUU, highlighting their shared goals for the university system.
