Accord Celebrates Court Ruling on Party Deregistration

Accord has reacted positively to the Court of Appeal's judgment that nullified a previous ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister Accord and four other parties. The party, led by National Chairman Barr.

Maxwell Mgbudem, described the appellate court's decision as a significant victory for democracy, rule of law, and due process. Accord asserted that the initial ruling was an attempt to undermine participatory democracy and distract from Senator Ademola Adeleke's participation in the Osun State gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15.

The party emphasized that it met all registration requirements and condemned the actions of the former legislators who initiated the suit. Accord expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support and condemned the judicial actions of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, framing the ruling as a reaffirmation of the judiciary's role as a protector of citizens' rights.
