Monarch Urges Fair Elections for Osun 2026 Governorship

Oba Munirudeen Lawal, the Timi of Ede, warned the federal government against compromising or rigging the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, in Osun State. Speaking during the inauguration of the dualisation of the Akoda-Baptist High School-Okegada road in Ede, the monarch appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allow citizens to vote freely.

He expressed confidence that the Accord Party would win the election, citing the support of Ede's ancestors for Governor Ademola Adeleke. Oba Lawal criticized political opponents for their disrespect towards Ede and called on residents to vote in large numbers, asserting that Ede's votes would compensate for any deficits from other local government areas.

Governor Adeleke, who described the road dualisation as a fulfilled promise, highlighted its significance in alleviating traffic congestion and improving connectivity within Ede and to major routes like Osogbo and Ibadan.
