Osun Police Deny 'Hit List' Claims Ahead of Election

The Imole Campaign Council, led by Deputy Director General Kolapo Alimi, accused the Osun State Police Command of preparing a list of 46 individuals targeted for arrest before the August 15 governorship election. Among those listed is Ademola Adeyemo, the Commissioner for Energy.

Alimi claimed that the arrests are politically motivated, aimed at disrupting the campaign activities of the Accord party in Ikire, where many of the targeted individuals reside. He specifically mentioned Taofeek Akinyemi, an Accord chieftain who was reportedly shot and later detained by security operatives.

Alimi demanded the immediate release of Akinyemi or his arraignment in court and called on Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu to direct the Osun State Police Command to halt these alleged arbitrary arrests. In response, Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi dismissed the allegations, stating that police operations would continue to ensure public safety.
