Adeleke's Camp Alleges Police Plot Ahead of Osun Election

The Imole Campaign Council, which is spearheading the re-election campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleged on Sunday that the Osun State Police Command has prepared a list of 46 individuals, including serving Commissioner Ademola Adeyemo, for arrest prior to the August 15 governorship election. Kolapo Alimi, Deputy Director-General of the campaign council, stated that the targeted individuals are primarily from Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area.

Alimi claimed that Taofeek Akinyemi, a chieftain of the Accord Party, was arrested after reporting an attack on him. He accused a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps of collaborating with opposition forces to facilitate these arrests.

Alimi demanded the immediate release of Akinyemi or his arraignment and called on Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to intervene. The Osun State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi, dismissed these claims, asserting that police operations are aimed at raiding criminal hideouts to ensure public safety.
