Osun Government Accuses APC of Protest Plot During Visit

The Osun State government has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning a protest aimed at causing mayhem during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's visit to the state. Kolapo Alimi, the state commissioner, issued a statement on October 31, 2023, warning the public to disregard the protest, which he described as a "clandestine act" intended to disrupt law and order.

Alimi emphasized that the APC's actions are a form of blackmail as the state approaches the elections scheduled for August 8, 2026. He reassured the public of the government's commitment to maintaining peace and urged citizens to avoid the Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, the protest venue.

The statement also criticized the APC for its alleged attempts to undermine the local government structure and accused them of being jittery as the elections approach. The government, led by Ademola Adeleke, expressed confidence in its support from the people of Osun State.
