Osun APC Calls for Probe into Ataoja's Assassination Claim

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State are calling for a thorough investigation into the alleged assassination attempt on Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, the Ataoja of Osogbo. The monarch recounted that gunmen invaded his palace and shot sporadically, leading to injuries sustained during the incident.

This event has heightened political tensions in the state, particularly as it coincides with Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election bid. The APC criticized the governor's handling of security matters and urged law enforcement agencies to take swift action.

The party's Osun State chapter has formally requested the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the circumstances surrounding the claim. Akintund Adegboy, a former Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, emphasized the need for the Ataoja to remain above partisanship.

The APC leaders expressed their support for Governor Adeleke while also urging residents to reject violence and prefer the ballot box for political expression.
