Osogbo Group Urges Ataoja to Stay Politically Neutral

The Oroki Unit Front has called on Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, the Ataoja of Osogbo, to maintain political neutrality as the governorship election in Osun State approaches. In a statement signed by Abass Jayeola, the group expressed concern that the palace should not become a platform for partisan activities.

They urged the Ataoja to act as a father to all residents of Osogbo, regardless of political affiliations, and to avoid engaging in political matters that could compromise the traditional institution's integrity. The statement referenced previous allegations of assassination attempts involving the monarch and stressed the need for the Ataoja to emulate other traditional rulers in the state who engage with politicians from various parties without taking sides.

The group emphasized that the royal palace should focus on welfare and development issues affecting Osogbo rather than serving as a venue for political party meetings.
