Adebayo Defends EFCC Amid Osun Account Freeze Controversy

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), addressed the issue of the Osun State Government's bank accounts being frozen during a news conference in Abuja. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the rule of law in matters involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and stated that he does not support calls for the resignation of EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede.

Adebayo argued that if the freezing of the accounts was wrongful, the state government should pursue legal redress rather than political avenues. He affirmed that the EFCC operates under judicial supervision and that affected parties have the right to challenge its actions in court.

Adebayo also expressed his support for law enforcement and stated that a government led by the SDP would strengthen the independence of anti-corruption agencies. He remarked on the importance of respecting democratic institutions and highlighted the need for capable leadership in Nigeria.
