Senator Fadeyi Defects to PDP, Becomes Candidate for 2027

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing the Osun Central Senatorial District, announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, following concerns regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket process for the upcoming 2027 general election. Fadeyi confirmed he has notified the Senate of his defection and declared himself the PDP candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District under the faction led by Minister Nyesom Wike.

Previously, Fadeyi had left the PDP in July 2025 to join the APC, expecting to secure the party's nomination for another Senate term. However, the APC chose Adekunle Adegoke as its candidate, leading Fadeyi to reassess his political future.

He expressed disappointment over the lack of transparency and fairness in the APC's candidate selection process, which he believed would honor a consensus arrangement. Fadeyi emphasized that his departure from the APC does not reflect opposition to President Bola Tinubu but rather a commitment to democratic principles and trust within political parties.
