Ilupeju Community Protests Access Road Blockage in Osogbo

Residents of the Ilupeju community in Osogbo staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday, seeking intervention from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke regarding the blockage of their access road. The protest, led by community counsel Taiwo Ajibola, highlighted that the blockage has caused significant hardship for approximately 4,000 inhabitants.

Ajibola explained that during a meeting with officials from the Osun State Ministry of Land and Physical Development, it was revealed that the current access road is part of a land parcel owned by an undisclosed individual. This situation arose after the ministry revoked and later reallocated land, leading to suspicions that influential individuals are colluding with government officials to block the road.

The community has been without proper access for years, and residents are urging the governor to intervene to alleviate the tensions and restore access. Georg Alabi, the Osun State Commissioner for Land and Physical Development, acknowledged the issue and promised to explore potential solutions.
