Ondo Residents Protest Insecurity, Block Highway

On Tuesday, residents of Ilu Abo in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State protested by blocking the Akure-Owo highway. The protest was sparked by ongoing incidents of kidnappings and killings in the area, which have left residents fearful and unable to farm.

Many of the protesters were youths who carried placards with messages pleading for assistance from the governor, highlighting their danger and inability to access their farms. Joseph Ade, a resident, expressed the community's distress, stating that they can no longer go to their farms due to the incessant kidnappings and killings.

In response to the protest, Adebowale Lawal, the Commissioner of Police in the state, appealed to the residents to allow free vehicular movement while assuring them that security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and the police, would ensure their safety and protect their property.
