Fayose Claims Accord Party Spent N40bn in Osun Election

Ayodele Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, claimed that the Accord Party spent a minimum of N40 billion during the Osun State governorship election held on August 15. This statement was made during an interview on TVC’s ‘Politics Tonight’ in response to Afrobeats singer Davido, who alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) spent N110 billion on vote-buying and that the Accord Party did not spend any money, relying instead on popular support.

Fayose dismissed Davido's assertions, stating that both leading parties invested heavily in the election. He specifically mentioned that over N7.5 billion was distributed to various local governments and wards shortly before the election, with each ward receiving a minimum of about N35 million.

Fayose asserted, “I stand to be corrected,” regarding the financial involvement of the Accord Party in the election.
