Youth Leaders Back INEC Chairman After Osun Election

Ethnic youth leaders have passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Amupitan, following the conduct of the Osun governorship election. In a statement signed by the Joint Convener, Mallam Kabiru Yusuf, they commended Prof. Amupitan for his professionalism, courage, and commitment to electoral integrity since taking office.

The youth leaders noted that the Osun election was a significant opportunity for INEC to showcase its readiness for credible, transparent, and peaceful elections in 2027. They highlighted that the election's outcome has bolstered public confidence in the Commission, particularly among young Nigerians, who are vital stakeholders in the democratic process.

The group also praised the roles of INEC officials, security agencies, election observers, political parties, and voters in ensuring a peaceful election. They urged Prof. Amupitan to maintain momentum and pursue reforms to enhance the transparency and inclusivity of Nigeria's electoral process ahead of future elections.
