Labour Party Applauds Osun Election, Warns of 2027 Risks

The Labour Party (LP) praised the results of the Osun State governorship election, asserting that it reflected the people's desire to keep Governor Ademola Adeleke in office. National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa stated that the governor's four-year tenure had positively affected voters' lives.

Despite this, the LP raised alarms about reported violence and electoral abuses, including attacks on journalists and vote-buying, which they believe pose risks for the upcoming 2027 elections. The party noted that the atmosphere in Osun State leading up to the election was tense, raising concerns about the potential for similar issues in future nationwide elections.

They criticized the presence of suspected thugs at the collation center in Osogbo, viewing it as a troubling trend in Nigerian elections. The LP commended President Bola Tinubu for the conduct of the Osun election, calling it the best under his administration, while urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to build on this outcome for future elections.
