Okonkwo Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Re-election Victory

Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party presidential campaign and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State following the August 15 governorship election. Okonkwo described Adeleke's victory as a testament to the power of the people over those in power.

He cautioned opposition parties against complacency, urging them to prepare for a challenging electoral contest in the 2027 general elections. Okonkwo referenced the 2022 Osun governorship election, which brought Adeleke to power, and criticized the conduct of the 2023 general election, highlighting a technical glitch by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress, led by President Bola Tinubu, would make significant efforts to retain power in 2027. Okonkwo called for accountability from INEC and security agencies to ensure free and fair elections in the future.
