Oyebamiji Defeats Adeleke in Osun Governorship Poll

During the ongoing governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, defeated the incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke, who is representing the Accord Party, at Ward 6, Polling Unit 006 in Boluwaduro Local Government Area. Oyebamiji received 68 votes, while Adeleke garnered 39 votes, according to a result sheet shared by Akinsola Akin on X after the vote counting concluded.

The election commenced at 9 a.m. and voting ended around 2:30 p.m. at various polling units across the state. A total of 2,339,233 registered voters are participating in the election, which includes 14 candidates.

Earlier reports indicated issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, which were malfunctioning at several polling units. Additionally, David Adeleke, a nephew of the incumbent governor, expressed concerns that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not yet uploaded results to its IReV portal as of 2:33 p.m. on election day.
