Osun Govt Accuses APC of Disruptive Protest Plans

The Osun State government has raised concerns regarding a purported plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to incite mayhem during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's visit. In a statement issued on Friday, Osun's Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, alleged that the APC intends to stage self-sponsored protests aimed at causing a breakdown of law and order during the President's visit.

Alimi described the plan as a sinister attempt to blackmail the state government and create tension ahead of Tinubu's official visit. He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, asserting that neither the People's Democratic Party (PDP) nor the Accord Party is involved in the alleged protests.

Alimi also expressed confidence that the issues related to local government allocations would be resolved through legal processes. He characterized the planned protests as diversionary tactics intended to portray Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration in a negative light, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship elections.
