Accord Party Criticizes Oyebamiji's Absence at Peace Accord

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party criticized the absence of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji at the Peace Accord signing ceremony held on Thursday in Osogbo. Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, the state chairman of Accord, described Oyebamiji’s absence as a disappointing development ahead of the August 15 governorship election, stating it sent an “unfortunate message” regarding the APC’s commitment to peaceful electioneering.

Akande noted that the APC’s deputy governorship candidate arrived only after the event had concluded, which he argued diminished the significance of the Peace Accord. He urged voters to recognize the contrasting attitudes of political parties in the election.

The Peace Accord aimed to secure commitments from candidates and parties for a peaceful and credible election. Akande commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for attending the ceremony, highlighting the administration's commitment to ensuring a violence-free election.
