Police Resolve Campaign Date Conflict in Osun Elections

Tension between the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding overlapping campaign dates was alleviated in Osun on Friday, following intervention by CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, the Commissioner of Police overseeing the governorship election. A strategic meeting was convened with the leadership of both parties to prevent potential conflicts.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the meeting fostered an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation. As a result, the Accord Party will hold its final campaign rally on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Fakunle, while the APC will conduct its rally on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Freedom Park.

CP Etaifo commended both parties for their maturity and commitment to peaceful democratic engagement and urged all political actors to ensure their supporters act peacefully. He reiterated the police's neutrality and commitment to security during the election period, warning against any actions that could disrupt peace.
