Accord Party Accuses Police of Harassment in Osun Election

The Accord Party's leadership in Irewole Local Government Area, Osun State, has accused the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of harassing its members and supporters as the governorship election approaches. In a statement released on Thursday, the party claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate are using security agencies to intimidate residents and opposition figures in Ikire.

The party condemned the harassment, linking it to the recent campaign rally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, which reportedly received a warm reception. They alleged that individuals previously questioned regarding the death of Remi Abbass are being targeted again, with 13 individuals currently held at Kuje Correctional Centre and two in IRT custody in Abuja.

The Accord Party criticized the police for failing to present credible evidence against those detained and described the arrests as a tactic to keep key political figures away from Ikire until after the elections.
